Rats...

Missed the book club last evening...

I didn't get a chance to read the book. I got the book... in fact... I am not even sure what the books title is... something to do with "....heaven". I think it would have been a good book.... but it was only a two week loan. I need more than two weeks... and it has a wait list... so I can't have it any longer.

OH well.. it's summer time.... TIME to wake up early in the morning... sit outside, drink the coffee, and enjoy books... because I have a stack of them. OH.. and I guess I can rejoice that the boy will be at home... safe and sound sleeping in his bed... only to rise later in the day, and start his wandering ways.

OH.. this is not book related... must go write another blog somewhere else....

Water for elephants

I enjoyed reading this book of one mans account of the beginnings of his life as a vet, in the circus. He did not start out to become a circus vet, but through a result of happenstance as a result of tragedy, he ended up hitching a ride on a circus train.

The book flips between his memories, and his current age ( 93, living in a nursing home).

In some respect the book doesn't develop the characters, but then one has to take into consideration the book is about HIS experiences.

I very much enjoyed reading it, and when I looked for the picture from Chap.ters, I found out it was one of "Heather's Picks".. which guarantees you a good read. Which is was.. thanks Heather... whoever you are!

City of Theives

This was a very good book. I enjoyed this guys style of writing. It was based in the second world war, with the Germans invading Russians' territories, or something like that. It is a work of fiction... so anything can happen.

Another almost quick one....

T is for Trespass by Sue Grafton.

Not a book I would typically read, but it was full of suspense and mystery. I think I enjoyed it. The ending took a bit long to get to...after the book had wrapped up essentially, but I did enjoy it. In fact.. I could see this being a good mystery movie.

The Reader

The Reader by Berhard Schlink.

My sister lent me this book. It was an interesting story. I wonder if I will take the moment to watch the movie. Probably not.

This Charming Man

This took me a while to get through. I think I might have set it down for about three weeks, maybe longer, so it took me a bit to get re-introduced to the characters. I have to say, although it did keep me reading.. it was a bit on the long side. I realize that the author has written four books in one, but I will still complain.

I am interested to understand who "the charming man" the title is referring to. That I still do not know.

Yet again...

I missed another book club.

That's alright.. I will be missing next months as well.

We read Tuesday with Morrie for March. I read it a couple of years back. A very nice book, which I really enjoyed.

I am very much hoping that I will continue doing my reading a little bit more than of late. I simply haven't been reading to much, except for blog stories. They don't count.

I now have a double high stack of books that I am wanting to get through..... and I can't!!!! Hopefully I will find myself a chair, and just sit in it... and that is when I look around and say to myself.. I have that to do, and that to do.. and that to do...
